Repurposing of Used
Materials in Training
PTC-Palawan integrates environmental
sustainability in its training programs by
repurposing used and discarded
materials for practical learning
activities. This approach not only
teaches trainees eco-friendly practices
but also promotes creativity,
resourcefulness, and awareness of
sustainable development in technical
and vocational education.
Repurposing Scrap Materials in Green TVET
At PTC-Palawan, innovative projects are being undertaken to promote sustainability and creativity through the repurposing of scrap materials. These initiatives are part of the Carpentry NC II program, which emphasizes the importance of eco-friendly practices in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Scrap Wood Transformations
Students are utilizing scrap wood to create charming small house decorations and functional phone stands. This not only provides practical skills in carpentry but also encourages a mindset of sustainability by giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste.
Used Tire Creations
In another creative endeavor, used tires are being transformed into stylish and comfortable chairs. This project highlights the potential of repurposing waste materials, reducing landfill contributions, and fostering an eco-friendly approach within the community.
Benefits of Repurposing in Green TVET
Sustainability: Reduces waste and promotes the use of eco-friendly materials.
Creativity: Encourages students to think outside the box and innovate with available resources.
Skill Development: Provides hands-on experience in carpentry and design.
Community Engagement: Involves local communities in sustainable practices and awareness.
Through these initiatives, PTC-Palawan is not only equipping students with valuable skills but also fostering a culture of sustainability and creativity in the region.
