Installation of
Rainwater
Storage System
PTC-Palawan has
installed a rainwater
storage system to
collect and store
rainwater, promoting
sustainable water
management and
reducing reliance on
municipal water
sources.
Utilization of Collected Rainwater
The collected rainwater is utilized for nonpotable purposes, providing a sustainable alternative to conventional water sources. The main applications include:
Cleaning: Rainwater is ideal for various cleaning tasks such as washing vehicles, cleaning windows, and maintaining outdoor spaces. Its softness, which contains fewer minerals than tap water, makes it effective for achieving streak-free results.
Gardening: Utilizing rainwater for irrigation is highly beneficial for gardens and landscapes. It helps in promoting healthy plant growth, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers, and conserving municipal water supplies.
Other Facility Maintenance: Rainwater can be employed for tasks such as flushing toilets, washing floors, and even cooling systems in buildings. This reduces the overall demand for potable water within facilities, contributing to resource conservation.
This practice not only contributes to environmental conservation by reducing runoff and erosion but also enhances cost efficiency by lowering water bills and minimizing the need for expensive water treatment processes. By adopting rainwater harvesting systems, individuals and organizations can play a significant role in promoting sustainable water management practices.
